Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He was enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. Alongside his part in the drama show telecast internationally under the name The Killing, he subsequently appeared in two other internationally acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He was also a key character in the BBC drama Sherlock, playing the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He was the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American TV show. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his role in Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This series was broadcast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. He has claimed that his brother and he first learned English by listening to Monty Python records and learning the sketches of comedy.
